As the U.S. Government prepares to inaugurate its new Commander-in-chief, people across the country are making sure that their opposition does not go unheard. In Evansville, banners and fliers appeared around town this morning expressing opposition to government tyranny, scapegoating of minority groups, climate change and prisons. Below is a series of photos that were submitted to us this morning. If you would like to submit photos of your own, email us at evansville [at] riseup [dot] net.

There will also be a demonstration today at the Four Freedoms Monument in Evansville at 3 p.m.

People in Evansville are not alone today in expressing their resistance to oppressive government. In Washington, D.C., thousands have gathered to blockade and otherwise disrupt the inaugural spectacle. In other places across the U.S.  marches, walk-outs, and other actions are planned.

Just a couple hours away in Bloomington, Indiana, students will hold a walk out at Indiana University. People in Bloomington have also gathered themselves to holda day of workshops and discussions related to the inauguration followed by a march at night. More information on stuff going on around Bloomington can also be found on the new Bloomington-based blog Plain Words.

In nearby Carbondale, Illinois, students at Southern Illinois Universitywill hold a walk out today to express their opposition.

In St. Louis, Missouri, a march in downtown is planned as well as a student walk-out at Washington University.
